Obituary of Joy M. Barlow

Joy M. Barlow, age 96 of Wilmington, DE passed away on June 3, 2024 at Sunrise of Wilmington. Born in Chester, PA, Joy resided in Winterset Farms in Wilmington, DE, previously residing in Linwood, PA and Indian Acres, MD. Joy worked for the PA Dept. of Transportation/Travel information for 25 years retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Democratic Committeewoman in Lower Chichester, PA. She enjoyed family gatherings especially Christmas time, summers at Indian River Acres, going to the casinos and playing Bingo. In addition to her parents, Clarence and Gertrude Rutter Emerson, Joy is predeceased in death by her husband, Leonard L. Barlow who died in 1989, 4 siblings, Clarence Emerson, Earl Emerson, Edith Talyai, and James Emerson, and a great-grandchild, John Patrick Burke. She is survived by her loving companion of 30 years, James Beail, 3 children, Leonard W. Barlow, David K. (Judith) Barlow, and Nancy J. (John) Donovan, 6 grandchildren, Heather (Craig) Burke, Brian Barlow, Jennifer Chace, Brad (Kellie) Barlow, Dawn (Mike) Pietryka Smyth, Alicia (Amadio) Barlow, 4 great grandchildren, Brett, Christopher, Zachary and Connor. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11th, 10-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by funeral services at 11AM.
