Herr Gefrorer was my absolute favorite teacher at Interboro. He is the true embodiment of what an educator should strive to be. You made such a wonderful impression on your students and you live on; in all of us.
Rest In Peace Dear Herr.

We are so sorry to hear of Charles' passing. He was the first person to befriend us when we moved to Delaware County 54 years ago and we retained that friendship long after Jack left Interboro Schools District. He was a true gentleman, always bringing flowers and vegetables from his Gradyville garden. He took pleasure in watching our 2 kids grow up and always picked out just the right Christmas presents for them. We loved to hear the stories about his travels and his experiences in travelling to Germany with his Interboro students. We visited him this past Christmas season at the nursing home and he was in very good spirits. It is a shock to us now that he is gone. He will be missed. Randy, our condolences go out to you and your entire extended family.

Charles Gefrorers inscription in a book I received as a present for my high school year in 1983-84. You helped me find the real spirit of America! Rest in peace.

Thinking of Charles, saying adieu
Men who meet in late forming youth,
before full maturity sets hard,
grasp reality through stuff of the bard
thus we keep poetry in hard truth
*. * *. *
So then,
Adieu Charles, dear friend, old chap
Fleeing from this earthly trap
you fought the battle with audacity,
grand proof of your perspicacity.
Now, there is evidence aplenty,
devotees who prized you gently
in every breath, your quiet smile,
that they admired, all that while
I heard, and I tell, for I’ve not forgot
the many differences you had wrought
You created bright light in many lives…
enough contributions to fill archives
Indeed, dear Charles, as a durable man,
tenacious and true., you took your stand
few could see your emotions, beaucoup,
but you quiet friendships did accrue
Teacher-at-large you’ve lived a life staunch,
forged true learning, whole lives you did launch
Good bye Charles

I was one of Charles' Penncrest H.S. classmates. I was saddened by his too-early death, and his family has my heart-felt condolences. Please know that I was heartened by the courage and class Charles displayed these last few months that must have more difficult than he allowed us to see. His loved ones will be in my thoughts and prayers. --John Tucker Taylor

It is not the age of someone that makes them who they are, rather what they did with that allotted time here on earth. Charles was revered and respected by so many. He loved to "escape from the asylum" every now and then, and I had the honor of facilitating that escape at least once a month to transport him to the world of IBC (Interboro Breakfast Club). He so loved being around our group, consisting mainly of past students from Interboro High School. We, in turn...received the benefit of watching him enjoy a little happiness during his last days. As many of you know, Charles was diagnosed with cancer about two years ago, at which time he was given three months to live. He got many more months than the Doctors gave him and I for one believe that prayer played a major role in that extra time. I also believe that bringing Charles to IBC gave him just one more positive experience he looked forward to. Charles Gefrorer was living proof of the truth of these simple but profound words. “Happiness is pretty simple: someone to love, something to do, something to look forward to.”
