Uncle Richie... he was a mans man. He was a role model of mine growing up. Well, he still is. Richie lived at our house when I was a kid. He would take me and Billy (sometimes Cathy), to the coolest places. We would go to airshows, car shows, just out to lunch. He spent time with us. He had his baby, his Mustang Mach 1. I remember pulling into a car show in NJ. A car pulled in before us, cutting us off, then slowed down. A tractor trailer behind us almost hit us. I’m talking about seconds between life and death. That’s when I saw the tough guy in Richie. He gave that car a piece of his mind. He had 2 kids in the car. He was scared. The guy wasn’t paying attention. That made me feel safe. He was worried about us, the car came second.
Then he met Lois. You could see the happiness on his face. There was no denying the love, the unconditional love he had for her.
We lost touch over the years, as we often do. Recently we reconnected. He reminded me of all the good times we shared.
We spent Christmas together. Richie, Lois, my mom, my wife, and my 2 wonderful kids. My daughter fell in love with him immediately.
He is one of the smartest people I know. He could take on any project. He could do anything. I remember him remodeling the basement with my dad to make bedrooms for us kids.
He will always be greatly missed and never forgotten. He was a great man. He taught me how to be the father I wanted to be. I can not thank him enough for that.
I’m glad we could reconnect. I’m glad he could meet my family. I know hes up there, watching over us. We lost a soul here on earth, but we gained one awesome guardian angel.
Love ya Uncle Richie... until we meet again.
-Joe

So many memories and so many great family times with Rich. To put into words as a tribute to his life, Richie was a unassuming person who worked hard and kept busy, but once done, he loved to just sit for a while and enjoy his family, the nature around him and of course his and Lois happy place, the seashore. I was thinking about Rich and what was important to him - his love for Lois, his forever and ever, and his love for his children, family and his pride of being Papa Rich to the boys. He always asked if you needed anything how the car was running and as you drove away from the house, said "seat belts". I know that he is doing well and getting to do what he loved to do now with no problems - he is catching some good waves and is forever reminding us to take care and be safe - "Seat belts" ...

My sincere sympathies to my dearest friend Lois; to Eileen, Chuck, Noah, Brendan, and Matt; to Katie; to Trudy; to Jimmy and Joann; and to Paula and Steve.
Rich, you will be so very missed by so many. You left your fingerprint on many lives. Through my tears I have so many wonderful memories of the last 30+ years. We had such great times on Red Oak Drive. I fondly remember the first day Kelly and I met you, Lois, Eileen and Katie. You were standing in the driveway of your almost completed home looking out on the "back 40." From that day forward the lives of our families were joined forever through good times and bad, rain and shine, snow and beach, pain and joy.
We sure had some fun - neighborhood block parties, Christmas parties, sledding parties, 4th of July get-togethers, kids playing, dogs and cats carrying on, helping each other with home improvement projects and car repairs and maintenance; rocking on your front porch, and oh, so much more.
When we moved away from Calais Woods, instead of never seeing you again, we became even closer. All your trips to Williamsburg and all our trips to Garnet Valley were always full of love, laughter and fun - weeks at Stone Harbor and Myrtle Beach, going to Phillies games, Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, JMU, WCU, Atlantic City and great wineries wherever we went! I'll never forget what an "excellent driver" you were!
You were strong-minded and kind-hearted. You watched out for my little girl when she went off to grad school up in Philly. On the weekends you fed her, let her "borrow" your laundry room, checked her oil and always offered her gas money. And once I was single again, you always looked out for me too. You would've given me your last dollar.
I once promised you that if anything happened to you, I would look out for your precious Lo. That promise still stands. You were like a brother to me, and things will never be the same without you. I know you are rejoicing in Heaven with all those who were waiting for you, but here on this Earth we mourn our loss.
The Fab Four - Ricky, Lucy, Ethyl and Fred are now three. We'll figure it out, but our Ricky will be missed forever.
Go in peace and be with God, dear Richie. Till we meet again.

As a suitor to his daughter, I was a little worried. I knew from stories I heard from his daughter that I could expect Rich to be strong, maybe a bit stern, and I'd better have my A-game ready. The man I met was those things, but not in a way to be feared. He was physically and mentally strong, with detailed knowledge about all things related to caring for the home and property. He was generous in sharing his knowledge and expertise, and always willing to lend a hand where needed. He was devoted to his family in a way that was clear and obvious to all. Perhaps most important to me was his willingness to embrace me and my sons as part of that family. He accepted us with open arms and cared for us like we'd been there all along. I can clearly see in my mind's eye a moment at my wedding to Eileen where Rich and I are laughing together with big smiles on both of our faces. I hold that image in my mind, along with many others from Red Oak Drive and Stone Harbor, as treasures from a man who led a life to be emulated. I miss you Rich. I promise to change my oil and filters on time and to keep records of the quality of the battery. I'll drain the gas from the generator and snow blower when it's time to put them away. And most of all, I'll take good care of Eileen and "the Noski". We love you. - Chuck

STRONG Uncle Richie. Lots of great memories with you at the beach with cousin Eileen, Katie, and Aunt Lo. He was always the best at horseshoes with his frisbee throw. Riding all the rides in Wildwood together and going to the water parks. He was always caring and someone that had your back. Very thankful I was able to see him one last time at our house in Broadkill Beach DE and spend the day together. RIP Uncle.

So many wonderful childhood memories of my big brother; family vacations at the beach, family reunions in DE, and ice skating at Ridley Park. Will always remember our family dinners of chicken and dumplings and cheesesteaks.
Then there were the summer vacations at Wildwood and Stone Harbor with our kids, riding the waves, ice cream at the French Quarter and walking the boardwalk. Later, we enjoyed together trips to the casino, visiting in PA and long walks and talks. We will miss Richie’s laugh and always being there for us whenever we needed mechanical, auto, or any “how to” questions we had. We send our love and sincere sympathy to Lo and family.
