Chris Heavens posted a condolence
Wednesday, May 6, 2020
Our condolences go out to Carol, all of Bud's children, grandchildren and great grand child. Bud was a great friend to me, my father and the Heavens family. After my father stopped driving, Bud would drive him around to doctor's appointments, the market, etc. We used to call it "Driving Mr. Jim." My dad and Bud never shut up when they were together. Bud and Carol would go to dinner at Maximillian's with my dad, my sister and her husband (El and Pat Short) and my uncle Ed Nelson every Thursday night. Whenever I would join them, it was always a fun time. My uncle Ed just passed away this year and Bud and me talked about the great memories of dinners at Max's with my dad and Uncle Ed. Whenever I needed a client picked up or taken to a doctor's appointment or they had no way to get somewhere, I could always count on Bud to take care of them for me. In addition to being a giving and caring man, Bud was one of the funniest guys I have ever met. He had an encyclopedic memory of jokes and he could rattle off any of your favorites on request. Bud was a war hero, having received the bronze star and purple heart in Vietnam. I remember telling him how glad I was that he made it home safely from Vietnam because of the impact he had on me, my father and my family. Bud was living proof that what Jackie Robinson said was true: "A life is only important in the impact it has on other lives." RIP my friend.

My heart is truly heavy upon hearing that Bud has transitioned. We shared countless jokes and laughter over the years particularly at Delta Air Lines. At this time I’m offering an expression of comfort and understanding to the Shirlow family. Stay encouraged.

My prayers and condolences to the entire family. Bud and I worked many years together. A man who would always go out of his way to help his fellow worker. Always kind and considerate to all who came in contact with Bud. A gentleman.
Rest in peace Bud, and God shed his grace upon you

Mr. Shirlow was a great man, taken away, way too early. I had the pleasure of meeting him over 25 years back. We just chatted last week on messenger, I am lost for words, he will deeply be missed by many. My deepest condolences to the Shirlow family.
RIP to a great man and Veteran… Good bless
