Obituary of Mildred H. Gilfillan

Mildred H. Gilfillan, age 90, a resident of Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020 from complications of COVID-19. Mildred was born in Chester, PA and raised in Glenolden, PA. She then lived in Swarthmore for 50 years. Mildred was a graduate of Glen-Nor High School with the class of 1948. Prior to retiring, she was a service manager with Strawbridge & Clothier for 23 years. She was a 55 year member of Leiper Presbyterian Church in Swarthmore, was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star in Media, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 15 years. She loved spending time with her family, watching Phillies games, sewing, and traveling with her husband and friends. Mildred looked forward to the many winters she and her husband spent in Florida with friends. She was the only child of the late George E. and Anna Mary Stoner Hatton. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter L. Gilfillan, Sr. who passed in 2008. She is survived by her son, Walter Gilfillan, Jr. (Denise) and two grandchildren, Matt (Brittany) and Brian. Private graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery.
