Obituary of Mary DeFrank
Mary DeFrank, 92, formerly of Boothwyn, passed away early in the morning on Friday, July 1st at home. Mary spent most of her life residing in Boothwyn, PA, where she lived on Garnet Mine Road with her late husband Anthony Buster DeFrank and their 5 children. Mary earned a living as a factory worker at B&B Mushrooms in West Chester. Mary was an honest, hard working woman who found enjoyment entertaining ceramic parties in her basement to crowds of family and friends on a daily basis. You could hear the chatter of intimate conversation from upstairs. Mary could always find time to knit, crochet, bake cakes, cookies and candies of all kinds; most of which she gave to away to family, friends, and the ladies in the basement! Mary's bakery was always "open for business"! Like Jesus, she would feed the multitudes; and when she needed a little assistance with the kids she would always call on "St. Mary & Joseph!" You heard her say that often! Mary moved to Lutheran Knolls and was active in the Upper Chichester Seniors in her later years and found more friends in which to share all her baked goodies and knitted, crocheted and ceramic gifts. After almost 20 years in this season of her life, Mary moved to North Carolina to live with her youngest daughter and her family. There she was still knitting, but now her expertise was mainly dishrags. Her new "BFF", Dori (the Hospice CNA who bathed and sat with Mary three times a week), was the recipient of many odd shaped dishrags, and she loved every one of them almost as much as she loved her! Everyone in Huntersville, NC either has a dishrag, or knows someone who does! Mary's legacy is survived by her children Michael (Pam) DeFrank of West Palm Beach, FL; Marian (Don) Leamy of Glen Mills, PA; Anthony (Sally) DeFrank of Smyrna, DE; Christine (Larry) Scarpato of Clearwater, FL, and Cathy (Bruno) Micun of Huntersville, NC; 14 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild; she is also survived by her younger siblings, Barbara (Gene) Harper, and Michael Bernard, both residing in the Boothwyn area. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony B. DeFrank, her parents Michael & Stella Bernard, 6 brothers; Andy, John, Pete, Walt, Steve and Joe, 2 sisters; Julie Burns and Betty Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 10:00AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA where friends may call from 9-10AM. Interment Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, PA. In lieu of flowers: Hospice & Palliative Care - Charlotte 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204 (Donatehospice.org)
