Obituary of Eleanor G. Miller
Eleanor Gentkowski Miller, age 72, died March 31, 2021. She was a devoted wife, daughter, niece, cousin and friend who will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Wilmington, DE. She was the wife of the late Francis "Franny" Miller with whom she shared 10 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Jankowski) Gentkowski. She is survived by many cousins, her godchildren, and close friends.
Family was central to Eleanor's life, and she was always there to share a laugh, lend a hand and give her time and energy to those she cared about. Holiday gatherings at her family home showcased Eleanor's flair for entertaining. As a young woman eager for new adventures, she enjoyed traveling with friends and making new ones along the way. She and Franny delighted in weekend excursions to the Amish markets in Lancaster, bagel runs to New York City and combing the gift shops of Washington, DC for unique Christmas ornaments.
Eleanor worked during the early years of her career at the former Commercial Credit Corp. and later for Catholic Cemetaries where she was employed for 22 years.
Like generations of her family before her, Eleanor lived her faith life as a parishioner of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, attending the parish grade school and high school and serving as a parish lector. She would later continue her faith journey at Holy Child Church.
