Obituary of William J. McGowan

William J. "Bill" McGowan, age 82, of Wilmington, DE passed away January 9, 2022 at Sunrise Assisted Living. Born to William and Julia Ronan McGowan in Chester, PA, Bill resided in Bethel Township for over 30 years before settling in Wilmington for the past 12 years. He graduated from Chester High School, Class of 1957 and served his country in the U.S. Army. Bill was a steel worker at a ship yard for over 30 years. He was a lover of all animals and enjoyed his fishing trips to Maryland. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by two sisters; Frances Battle and Anne Marie "Nancy" Keating. He is survived by three daughters; Monette M. Hurley (Brian West), Melissa M. McGowan, and Kathleen (Matthew) McGowan Jones, two siblings; Margaret Rogozinski and Joseph McGowan, five grandchildren, and one great granddaughter, Lola. Funeral services will remain private.
