Obituary of Margaret C Ward

Margaret "Meg" Ward (nee Otey) age 82, of Philadelphia, PA, peacefully slipped into an eternal slumber surrounded by her family on Friday, November 4, 2016. Meg was born and raised in Abingdon, VA, where her upbringing shaped her into the southern beautiful bell her family and friends came to adore. Meg eventually moved to North Philadelphia with her sweet heart Jim Ward, where she raised her daughter, Sherry. Meg was a classic beauty with a winning smile and a sharp mind, which led her to her successful 25 year career as a secretary with Morgan Lewis, & Bockius Law Firm. Meg was a woman who had the strength of a 1,000 men, and yet the delicate nature of a rose petal. She struggled for many years with many illnesses, but never let anything take away her love of life and the love of her family. To the world she was just another beautiful woman, but to her family she was their world. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family, listening to country music, and maybe indulging in chocolate. She is preceded in death by her parents Levi Otey Sr., and Hazel (Lane) Otey, and sister, Doris Johnson. Meg will be terribly missed by her husband of 54 years Jim Ward, daughter Sherry (Mark) Waldron, two granddaughters Natasha and Alyson Waldron, two great granddaughters; Kylie and Kelsey Higbee, brother Levi Otey Jr., and many extended family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to remember a loving; wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, and role model celebrate the gentle manner of a southern bell and pay tribute to Meg's life on Friday, November 11, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 606 Shore Rd, Somers Point, NJ 08244. Visitation will be held from10:00-11:00AM, followed by a memorial Mass at 11:00AM. Interment will remain private.
