Obituary of John J. Ashby Sr.

John Joseph "Jack" Ashby Sr. passed away peacefully on February 10, 2023 at the age of 78. He spent his life in service to others. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Embassy Security Service Corp. of the United States Marines in Bangkok, Thailand. After being honorably discharged, he joined the United States Army Reserves where he served faithfully an additional 22 years. Family was most important to John, and he spent his life working to provide for them. First in Security and later, after earning his degrees, as an IT Manager for NKS Distributors. While raising his children, he volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader and ensured that they were raised knowing God, loving family, and serving others. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Alice (Sparklin) Ashby, brother, Edward Ashby, Jr, and son, Michael. Left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are brothers Ronald (Sandy) Ashby and Michael Ashby, former wives; Susan (Patterson) Dougherty and Ruth (Martz) Ashby; sons; John, Jr, Adam (Sara), and Bryan (June), daughter, Erin (Tannin Miller); and grandchildren Austin, Mara, Justin, Dylan, Isaac, Madison Ashby and Knolan and Kadence Miller. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 1:00- 2:00 pm at The Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA with a memorial service at 2pm.
