Obituary of Peter V. Zekonis
Peter Zekonis, 92, of Media, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on April 13th surrounded by his family. He was born in 1930 in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from Bartram High School, Peter (or "Pete" as he was known), honorably served his country in the Korean War as a member of the Air Force and was employed for over 30 years with the Philadelphia Electric Company. He was especially proud of his work at the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant in Delta, MD, where he participated in the early days of nuclear power generation. He will be remembered as a man who worked hard in order to provide for his family, and also as his wife Louise's greatest cheerleader.
Peter loved to tinker in his garage on various home improvement projects, of which there were many. He was also an avid gardener and a devoted Eagles fan. He enjoyed spending time at his second home in Ocean View, Delaware, where he taught many a grandchild how to catch crabs, dig for clams, and fish.
In addition to Louise, his wife of 72 years, Peter is survived by his daughter Diane, his sons Michael and Robert, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
