Obituary of Marie Catherine Welsh

Marie Catherine "Reesy" Welsh, age 91, of Wilmington, DE passed away on August 8, 2023 at Christiana Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia, PA  and raised in Kennett Square, PA by her parents, Roy and Ruby Burton Craycraft. She has been a resident of Wilmington for 11 years, previously residing in Wallingford, PA. Reesy graduated from Ridley High School, Class of 1947, then graduated from Keystone Business School the following year. She continued her education and graduated as an LPN from Chester Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She loved her calling as a nurse and worked as an OBGYN and ICU nurse for Springfield, Crozer, and Taylor Hospitals. 

In addition to her parents, Reesy is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Welsh, brother-in-law, Richard "Franky" Welsh, and her step-granddaughter, Shelby Berkheimer. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Steve) Berkheimer, grandson, Matt (Monica) Mason, step-grandsons, Mike and Eric Berkheimer, and great-grandson, Logan Berkheimer. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 18 from Noon to 1:00 pm at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA followed by a Celebration Of Life at 1:00 pm.
