I’ve known Earl for 30+ years; he was a wonderful man and a great father-in-law. He was thoughtful, kind, and generous. He led a fascinating life full of stories to last 96 years and we heard them all – some again and again! But that was Earl, full of life, love, and wanting to take care of his family, which he always did. We will all miss Earl, but he left us so many happy memories, and stories, that we can now share with others. He will not be forgotten.

Arty and I were so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. You were so lucky to have such a kind loving father in your life. He raised three wonderful women and was a great example for their children and grandchildren.

I worked at Delta as a Customer Services Agent in PHL with Earl from 1972 to 1983. What a kind and gentle man. I remember hearing stories of when he was Flt Engineer on the Pan Am Boeing Stratocruiser (quite a four-engine intercontinental airplane of it's time). He said they had boarding music via a record player (I believe that was one of his duties as Engineer). Also, because of it's range and lengthy time in the air, the cockpit crew took turns sleeping in bunks. Earl said on his first trip, he was designated to take the first bunk rest. He said he was chided a bit by the crew on that first trip when he showed up for that rest period in his pajamas. Earl laughed telling the story as he went on, "The crew told me that it was customary to just remain in my uniform during those rest periods...Ha!" My sincere condolences to Earl's dear family. He was a wonderful man and we enjoyed many conversations. My heart is heavy for you all in this sad loss. Thank you, Marine, for your valiant service to us all! Dan Doggendorf
