Obituary of Cecilia Watson

Cecilia D. Watson, age 89, passed away suddenly on November 5, 2023, at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Swarthmore, Cecilia has resided in Glen Mills for the past four years, previously residing in Garnet Valley for over 50 years. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan and later worked at Bell Telephone. After her marriage to Robert P. Watson, Cecilia went on to raise her five children and care for her home.  Cecilia was devoted to her Catholic faith and a longtime member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. She was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed board games, bingo, bean bag baseball, and bocce. In her spare time, Cecilia enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, family beach vacations and visiting the casinos.  Her latest hobby was birdwatching. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband Robert P. Watson of 40 years, she was preceded in death by her biological parents, Walter and Tekla Dyka and parents John and Marie Rumsey, who raised her, four siblings: Jean McCarron, Laures Sweeney, Stephen Dyka, and Esther Hammond.

She is survived by her five children: Catherine (Anthony) Nicoline, Lori Hallahan, Janine Crawford, J. Brian (Karen) Watson, and Barbara (Brett) Curtis. Thirteen grandchildren:  Eric Nicoline, Jeffrey (Chelsea) Nicoline, Melissa (Danny) Cruz, Kristen Hallahan, Brittany Nicoline, Mark Crawford, Kyle Watson, Matthew Crawford, Haley Watson, Paige Watson, Emma Curtis, Madelyn Curtis, and Sarah Curtis.

Two great-grandchildren: Joel Nicoline and Rowan Cruz.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10th, from 9:00 - 9:45 AM at St. John Fisher Church, 4225 Chichester Ave, Boothwyn, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM.
