Obituary of Joseph J. Coggins Sr.

Joseph J. Coggins Sr., age 84 of Garnet Valley, PA passed away on December 14, 2023 at home. Born in Philadelphia and raised in S.W. Philadelphia, Joe resided for the past 45 years in Garnet Valley, PA, previously residing in Aldan, PA. A furniture salesman, Joe worked at several furniture companies including Murta's, Jerry Hampton Furniture on MacDade Blvd., Smiley's and Drexel Hill Furniture. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed repairing grandfather clocks as that was his passion. He also was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, James and Rose Moran Coggins, Joe is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jimmy Coggins, Jack Coggins and Frank "Butch" Coggins. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Agnes R. Toland Coggins, four children, Joseph J. Coggins Jr., Maureen (Jim) Willis, Jim (Stephanie) Coggins and Dan (Nicole) Coggins, seven grandchildren, Lauren (Derek) Klinger, Natalie, Nicole & Sam Willis, and Emily, Ryan and Zoe Coggins and a great grandson, Jack.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 9:00-10:45AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM.
