Obituary of Joseph J. Piecara
Joseph J. "Smokin' Joe" Piecara, age 90 of Garnet Valley, PA passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024 at home. Born and raised in Chester, PA, he resided in Garnet Valley with his daughter Annette. Joe served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was a machine operator for NOLU Plastics in Aston for 10 years retiring in 2001, and previously worked for USI Industrial Services in Essington, PA until they relocated. Joe and his wife were long-time CYS Foster Parents. He loved horse racing, playing darts, and bowling. His average score was in the 180s and in his earlier years he was a pin boy. As a young man, he also worked at Chester Bakery. Joe enjoyed watching Daniel Boone right up to the end. In addition to his parents, Sigmund and Catherine Luko Piecara, Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Anna M. Piecara who passed in 2006, an infant daughter, Mary Joanne Piecara, and two siblings, Julianna Sokolik and Sigmund "Zeke" Piecara. Joe is survived by five children, Mark (Terry) Piecara, Annette Henry, Mary Anne (Bob) Nealson, Fredel Graybeal, and Susan (Tim) Houska, siblings, Frank Piecara & Stella Windsor, also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
