Obituary of Estelle A. Stocki

Estelle Anderson Stocki, age 103, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024. The daughter of proud Ukrainian immigrants, Jennie Dziuda Anderson and Nicholas Anderson, Estelle was born in 1920 in Wilmington, DE. She married the love of her life, John Francis Stocki II, in 1943, and while they spent their lives in Wilmington they were citizens of the world, spending much of their time traveling and exploring unique places. Estelle lived a fascinating life and loved to tell stories to her friends and family whom she loved dearly. She was the matriarch of a large family, spanning multiple states and countries, and loved nothing more than spending time with them, "sitting down and having some fun" or leading a rousing polka. Estelle was kind and selfless, hard-working, dedicated to her family, always quick to smile and laugh, and generous with her love and her opinions. Estelle was proud of the life she lived- her childhood on Heald Street, her early jobs and supporting her husband while he fought in WWII, managing the construction of her young family's home in Sharpley, encouraging a love of travel and skiing in her children, nieces, and nephews, teaching her grandchildren how to cook Ukrainian food, playing hide and seek with her great-grandchildren. She lived a full and beautiful life spanning ten decades. Estelle was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but always remembered.

Estelle was predeceased by her loving husband, John; her son, John Francis (Trip) Stocki III; and her brother, Peter Anderson. She is survived by her devoted, beloved daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Miller; four grandchildren, Jen Miller Leahey (David), Adrienne Miller McLaughlin (Eoin), Kim Stocki Webster (Andrew), and Taylor Stocki; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and dearly cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Estelle's family would like to offer sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff at Shipley Assisted Living for their excellent care of the woman we loved so much.
