you see I don’t have just one or two memories of Bobby. I have hundreds! Bobby was my best friend in High School. We did everything together from playing wiffle ball and frisbee to running lifting weights, and of course, wrestling. I first met Bobby on the football field in the 9th grade. A short, feisty kid whose shoulder pads looked too big for him. His Uncle Mike was one of the coaches and me and Bobby were friends from day one. Then came wrestling season. Turns out, his Uncle Mike was also our wrestling coach. After practice the coaches would take me and Bobby into the varsity wrestling room for more practice. It was then that Bobby started talking to me about States. He was always the PA announcer and we would dream of being in the Parade of Champions. His dad, Big Bob, took us everywhere. There was a wrestling tournament somewhere every weekend and Big Bob made sure we were there. We always set our sights on the finals and together we would always “bring home the bacon”. I cannot think of a single tournament that didn’t fill the back seat of his Dad’s car with trophies, medals, and wrestling charts. Bobby especially liked those! Bobby was the toughest wrestler I ever knew. He was strong as a bull dog. He had a sugar foot stance with a mean snap down. He was extremely determined which made him a Champion. Wrestling for Council Rock and Coach Stanley was amazing. I lived with Bobby and his family for much of those years. I cannot possibly write about all the memories. There are too many to count. Bobby Ortman was a Champion wrestler but, most important to me, he was my best friend. I will miss you Bobby. Your Pal, Michael
