Obituary of Andrea Kate Moyer
Andrea Kate Moyer, 76 of Wilmington, Delaware passed away May 22, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Andrea was born in Chester, PA to Andrew and Catherine Moran (Doyle) on August 14, 1947. She attended Eddystone High School and graduated in 1965.
For over 20 years she worked at Widener University in the financial aid office where she met life long friends.
Andrea is survived by her husband of 53 years, William (Bill) Moyer, son, Erick Moyer, daughter, Amanda Goheen, loving son-in-law, Chris, and her two favorite grandchildren, Charlotte and Andrew, her dearest friend and sister Rosemary DeMaio, brother-in-law John, nephews, Dan and Mike, niece, Andrea Willis and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Thomas Moran and niece Allison DeMaio.
Up until this last year Andrea lived a very active and full life. Growing up and even later in life, Andrea loved to swim. For years she spent time at the gym pool and when summer came she always jumped in the pool with grandkids. Even in her 70's she was not afraid to get in the ocean and ride the waves. She also spent many years playing and sometimes beating her husband in golf. She enjoyed a nice cup of coffee in her sunroom and watching the Phillies on a warm summer night. She loved taking day trips to NY with her sister, seeing a broadway show and going out for a nice dinner. She loved to hang out with friends at the trailer on the Elk River. She spent many weekends with her husband and friends just enjoying the deck or a boat ride with a drink, good company and good laughs. She was always going to lunch with her girlfriend of over 60 years, Patty Painter, her work friends from Widener or the girls from the pool. She adored her grandchildren and they could not be more loved. She loved to watch her grandson fish and loved his fish stories even more. She also loved to watch her granddaughter play soccer and drove miles to see her score a goal. In Andrea's final moments, we may not have had the miracle we were praying for but we witnessed a miracle nonetheless as she very vibrantly hugged everyone she loved, told us she "lived a good life" and said goodbye.

On behalf of Andrea's family we would all like to thank all those that helped to care for her in this challenging year, especially those at the Helen Graham Cancer Center in Christiana; Dr. Lee and Eileen in Oncology, Dr. Duffalo her pulmonologist, Dr. Max Oran and all the amazing nurses on floor 6D and 3D at Christiana Hospital.
