John, Kristen, John, Eric, Greg , grandchildren , friends and family,
My deepest sympathy to all from my family. Words can not express the sadness we all feel. A wise preacher once said " it's all about the dash. "The dash of what we do between the time we are born until the time we go to be with our Lord. It appears Joan, Mom, Grandma was truly loved and cherished by all and she brought so much happiness , meaning and such purpose during her dash! She will be missed by so many.

In early September 1996, I walked into Brandywine Racquet Club for the first time to inquire about opportunities to play tennis. Joan happened to be at the desk and invited me to play with her Thursday morning group. I explained that I was a brand new player and was pretty bad. In her kind, welcoming way, she encouraged me to join her group and Thursdays became my favorite day of the week. Joan and I were reminiscing about this at our tennis luncheon a few weeks ago. I last played with her the day before her collapse. I haven't walked into BRC since and can't imagine how difficult it will be. I truly loved her and will miss her greatly.

Dear John and Family,
Joe and I send our heart felt condolences to you and your family.
When I first came to the Chadds Ford area in 1983, Joan was nice enough to be one of my first USTA partners. Even with her busy schedule she, Brenda and Marilyn would come over during the summer on Monday mornings to play tennis at our court. She was always a lady and a good friend. I will always admire Joan and treasure her memory. I am so lucky to have known her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Joe and Carolyn

I will always remember:
The way Joan laughed at all of Johns humor and even some of mine.
How she always cared about and loved my son and daughter.
The days at the Eastern Shore, the laughter and friendship.
How she welcomed all dogs, hers, his, ours, and everyone. And loved them.
Her laying in the bottom of the Boston Whaler as John frantically sent flying hooks over her head trying to catch a stupid fish (her words).
Her unending friendship and love.
Rest in Peace my friend
Phil and Anne Marie Auld

Remembering this caring, delightful, loving and special lady as tears freely flow recalling her spirit, laughter and her love of tennis. I shall miss her terribly and thank her dear family for sharing her all these years with us, especially on the tennis court. No more "stupid balls" for this gal, only golden ones to match her wings and halo. We miss her and cherish the time our Lord in Heaven allowed her to spend here on earth. Warm hugs and heartfelt sympathy to all the family who were blessed having Joan in their life. Prayers that God will hold you in his care. I shall always cherish her memory.
