So sorry Mr. Higgins to hear about the passing of Mrs. Higgins. Even though we only lived in Wallingford for a short time, it was some of my favorite times and you and Barbara were two of my parents dearest friends. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Tribute to Barbara Ann Higgins
• My sincere condolences to the Higgins family for the loss of their beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Barbara, (My Mother-in Law) was a wonderful, kind, caring and sensitive woman and was there for me when my children were growing up. She was someone who you could lean on for support and understanding. I will miss her very much and even now, years later, I can still see her smiling face and hear her calm voice. She was a much-needed source of support to a young mother with a fledging family. She was so kind to me during child rearing years. She was always there to babysit when needed and for Barbara, it was a joy of love to be with her grandchildren. I will miss her very much.

Yesterday I put on my headphones to listen to music and the first song that came on was "Don't forget me" by Imagine Dragons. I knew that was something Mom would remind me. She never forgot anyone. Memories? It seems trivial to select any one but then again, all are threads she wove into a fabric in bringing us joy and compassion. Mom cared most about family and not just immediate family but in all its extensions of grandkids, great grandkids, cousins, sisters... She genuinely cared what everyone was going through, good or bad. That compassion is what she brought to this world. I remember so many random "threads" such as our naps together when I was a child, her always being there to arrange bday parties with friends, vacations, bbq's... She got all my friends together to watch the first episode of Sesame Street. She would plant angel hair in our heating vents and tell me Santa's elves had visited. I watched her do the same for her grandkids. We would watch General Hospital together every day after school. She would take me to 69th st to shop. She made sure we never missed a meal or holiday together as a family. As adults, the phone was her motus operandi and you had better be ready to spill the beans. I remember her passions: volunteering, gardening, cooking ( so many recipes: tuna casserole, baked beans, pineapple casserole..) going down the shore.. Just last month she asked me about the Pier 4 prices in Ocean City. All threads among thousands of others that made up a fabric of compassion passed on to us. We can't connect by phone anymore but we have prayer. I ask, if you think of it, when you say a prayer, to pick up the phone (figuratively) and say hello to Mom, tell her what's going on in your life and "Don't forget" the threads she wove making up the fabric of lessons she taught us. Love Chris H
