Obituary of Alfreda Slezak
Alfreda "Freda" Slezak, age 88, of Chadds Ford, PA passed away peacefully on September 21st at home surrounded by her loving family. Freda had resided in Chadds Ford for the past 24 years, previously residing in Boothwyn, PA. Raised and educated in Chester, PA, she graduated from the Chester High School, class of 1954. A homemaker, Freda was devoted to her Catholic faith and a longtime member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church. She was a past member of the Aston Lioness Club, a Red Hatter and she also enjoyed playing Bingo. However, she had a passion and skill for making Pierogies and looked forward to her weekly Wednesday's at Holy Myrrh-Bearer's Ukrainian Church where she and her friends would gather to make homemade Pierogies. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Edmund and Josephine Wyrabkiewicz Sr., she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Slezak who died in 2003, and 2 siblings, Diane Slezak and Edmund Wyrabkiewicz Jr. Freda is survived by 4 children, Linda (Bob) Sieber, Sherry (Steve) Krol, Denise (Steve) Geida and Sandra Weeks, a brother, John (Marsha)Wyrabkiewicz , 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 27th from 8:30-10:15am at St. John Fisher Catholic Church 4225 Chichester Avenue, Upper Chichester, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment, Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Freda's memory may be made to the Holy Myrrh-Bearer's Ukrainian Church renovation fund, 900 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
