Obituary of Dorothy J. Natrin

Dorothy J. "Dot" Natrin, 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Lorelton Assisted Living on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life.

Born to Clowell and Vivian Quattlebaum in Batesville, AR, she was raised in Philadelphia, PA.  Dot has resided in Wilmington, DE for the past 13 years, and previously in Ridley Park and Chadds Ford, PA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldemar G. Natrin. Together, they had five children: Waldemar “Chip” Natrin Jr. (Donna), Geoffrey Natrin, Carolyn Natrin (Ellen), Janice Strauss (Jeff), and Chris Natrin (Susan). She had 10 grandchildren: Nicholas, Michael, Emily, Kirstie, Andrew, Karleia, Shannon, Jennie, Jessica, Sophie, 17 great-grandchildren: Clementine, Eleanor, Hank, Lucy, Mason, Luke, Savannah, Dawson, Daxton, Alice, Annika, Allyah, Blythe, Callie, Zoe, Margot, and another arriving soon.

After raising her family, Dorothy worked for many years as a legal secretary, and later became a successful fabric artist and entrepreneur.  Her “A Better Stitchery” business created beautiful heirloom custom baby blankets that were sold online and by specialty retailers throughout the area. She also embroidered linens, hand wove rugs, and made curtains, slip covers, dolls, and more.  She was an avid gardener and will be remembered for making fantastic holiday dinners and desserts.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Edith Inez Baker, her aunt Camille DeLape, her mother, Vivian Rossi, and her sister Vivian Peterson who shared her passion for fabric art.  

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 30th, from 10-11 AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11 AM. Interment,  S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com
