Obituary of Antoinette Rose Urso
Our loving Mother Antoinette Rose Urso went to be with the Lord on 10/03/2024 surrounded by her loving family at her side. She was well cared for during her last days by her daughter Rosemary. She was 94 years of age and 14 days short of her 95th birthday. She was blessed with a long and healthy life and was ready to go be with her loving husband Frank Tony Urso who went to be with the Lord 12 years ago. Mom was an amazing mother of four, Tony, Rosemary, Frank, and Joe. She loved her daughters-in-law Cyndie, Heather, and Delmi. Her joy was her 12 grandchildren (Jacob, Scott, Eric, Sarah, Jessica, Aaron, Gabrielle, Vail, Cory,
Josiah, Leana, and Dianelly), her 9 great-grandchildren (Hannah, Luke, Isabella, Jack, Jameson, Jackson, Mick, Georgie, and Forest), and all her nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Brooklyn New York on October 17th, 1929, with her twin sister Diana, and they grew up with brother Phillip, and sisters Theresa and Fransis. They lost their mom at the young age of 9 years old from a horrible accident. This tragedy impacted all the children. After their father re-married, they struggled to build a relationship with their new stepmom.
Antoinette Rose Falzone was married to Frank T. Urso on May 7th, 1949, when he returned home from World War II. After having three children (Tony, Rose, and Frank) they moved to Brentwood on Long Island in NY where they purchased their first home together and added their fourth child, son Joe. Mom became a huge sports fan as she loved to watch her children play multiple sports growing up. Tony, football and track, Frank, football, basketball, and lacrosse, and Joe, football and lacrosse. She also became a big NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. She would never miss games on TV. Mom would watch games all by herself to not miss a game.
During the spring they would travel every weekend to the Maryland area or as far as the Carolinas to watch their son Frank play lacrosse or to Towson University to watch their son Joe play lacrosse. These weekends became a big part of their lives. During her later years, mom loved to attend Garnet Valley Lacrosse games where she was able to watch her grandchildren (Vail and Cory) play and her son Frank coach. She attended with Bonnie Brendley and her daughter-in-law Heather. These were events that mom looked forward too and could not wait for.
Mom started working in factories and home cleaning until she started her own cleaning service. While Dad worked on the Long Island Railroad and later started his own painting business. They together built a wonderful home for their four children as she juggled many tasks at the same time. She was president of the Sons of Italy on Long Island for several years until they decided to retire and move to Florida. She restarted the cleaning business back up in Florida to make the additional income.
One of Mom's favorite trips was when she traveled to Italy to visit her son Tony, his wife Cyndie, and family when he was in the service. She was able to visit the Vatican, Rome, Naples, and Florence and at the same time was able to watch her grandchildren (Jacob and Scott) play baseball. She also loved her cross-country trip with her sister Teresa and husband Joe and her trip to Vegas with Dad.
Mom started to lose family members while living in Florida, first her sister Fransis, then her sister Teresa, followed by brother Philip and last twin sister Diana. She lost the love of her life Frank T. Urso on April 14th, 2012, whom she was married to for 63 years at that time. Holidays were big events with a large extended family all those years. Mom and Dad loved to dance together! I can see them dancing now as they are together in Heaven.
Mom loved to attend concerts like Cher, Rod Stewart, Michael Bolton, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra. You would also find her at times in the casino playing the slot machines or at home with family playing cards. Days of Our Lives was a favorite show to watch. She loved to listen to music and loved to sing at church. Mom loved the Lord! Antoinette was famous for her lasagna, Italian wedding soup, the world's best chicken cutlets, rice and bread puddings, and her very special Holiday cookies. It took several years for Heather to finally get mom to teach her the recipe so she can continue the family tradition. She loved sitting on the deck during the summer months singing and laughing as we played family games.
Mom was loved by all who met her. Her life was lived for everyone else, she never put herself first. Always thinking about her family, willing to give her time, money, or prayers for all situations. During her final days she was scared, yet ready to meet the Lord. We thank God for the time he gave us with Mom, she was and always will be AMAZING, we were so blessed to have her in our lives!
One of Mom’s favorite songs to sing at church was Amazing Grace! Mom we all love you SO
MUCH!
