Simply stated: knowing Mrs. Crockett was a blessing to so many of us!
She became another grandmother to Brande and I, as we grew up next door to her. Mrs. Crockett told me of her early years in West Virginia, her love of travel, nature, and so many other topics. As I grew, she told me of her World War memories, and assimilating to life in Maryland and Pennsylvania. I always respected and enjoyed listening to her, and gained a unique view of life, from her stories.
She used to watch Brande and I from time to time, brought over baked items, and took interest in our growing up proper. We in turn, trimmed her lawn, waxed her car, and helped her with an assortment of odd jobs when she asked. We looked out for her, and she looked out for us!
She was so kind to my parents, whom were young, and new to the neighborhood! I never forgot that. My uncles, aunts, and grandparents came to know and cherish Mrs. Crockett, when they would visit us, as they came from similar backgrounds, in central and western Pa. To this day, they ask me about her.
When Mrs. Crockett moved to Delaware, I moved away as well, to finish my final 2 years at Penn State. I went into my chosen field as a ranger, traveling, working in beautiful refuges and parks, and sharing stories and photos with Mrs. C, through letters and regular visits.
I always called Mrs. C., regardless of where I was. I made a point to stop in Delaware, to visit and catch up with Mrs. Crockett whenever I could. Newark was a magical refuge, on my way to western Pennsylvania, eastern North Carolina, or some other duty location. I always remember her sloppy Joe sandwiches, chicken salad, and the country style dinners!! Above all, our mutual interests and conversations stay within my mind.
She attended social events with the Kane clan, and became a wonderful role model for my child in 2012. Mrs. C. became G.G. to Jackie from then- onward. Jackie's first Lego toy set came from G.G. This happens to be Jackie's favorite toy. Whenever she and I play with the Legos, we will have a touchstone to G.G.
I am so thankful G.G. came into our world. Her practical and compassionate manner was still with her when I saw her recently, for a summer visit, back in August. She and Jackie were two June bugs, perfectly paired(smile). She will always be in my mind and spirit, when I climb a mountain, view a pretty location, take a picture, or eat home cooking!! Forever Free

I have so many memories of Aunt Marcella. One picture that will always bring back great memories is at the family reunion and Agnes' 75th birthday party when Agnes, Aunt Pearl, Aunt Mae and Aunt Marcella joined arms and took a walk together. While Lyle and I lived in Delaware there are the many times that she would stop and visit us on her walks and vice versa or the three of us would get together for dinner. In recent years it is the many times I was a guest at her house, and we stayed up late talking about family over a glass of wine, but then she was up early and insisted on fixing me breakfast. We always had a good time together and I will miss her cheerful face and welcoming arms.
My sympathy to her loving children, grandchildren and great grand-children of whom she was so very proud. I know she was an integral part of their daily lives.

I'm so sorry that Marcella has passed away. I always enjoyed visiting with her during reunion time when she stayed with mom. She had such wit and vivacity for her age, and I enjoyed her stories about her time working during World War II. She was such a character, and I will greatly miss her wisdom, her smile and her laughter. It will be a comfort knowing she will watch over you all. God bless.
Love, Jennifer

God bless her kind and beautiful soul and her blessed and most wonderful family. Aunt Marcella lived such a full and happy life and was deeply loved by all who knew her. She was not only loved, but was special to everyone. She had the best wit and humor about her and was just amazing to be around. I know she is now reunited with some of her family and they are enjoying her wit and waiting for us. I consider it a great honor to have loved such a great person and her wonderful families.
We love you all dearly and are praying for you always.
