Obituary of Robert L. Shomo

Robert L. Shomo, age 93, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in Johnstown, PA, Bob had been a resident of Garnet Valley for the past 62 years, previously living in Ogden and Ridley Park, PA.

Bob dedicated 42 years to his career as a Chief Flight Inspector at Boeing, a role that took him around the globe before his retirement in 1995. He was a proud graduate of Ferndale High School, Class of 1948, and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

A devoted community member, Bob was a lifelong member of the Ogden Fire Company since the mid-1950s, serving as its president for nine years. He was also a member of the American Legion in Ogden. Bob enjoyed working in his yard, hunting, and spending time at his cabin in Potter County. Known for his gift of storytelling, he brought joy and laughter to those around him with his many tales.

In addition to his parents, Harvey I. and Mae L. Shrader Shomo, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Shomo, who passed in 2005, and his two brothers, Harvey and James Shomo.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Eileen M. Weimer Shomo; his three children, Barry (Kathy) Shomo, Bryan (Lynn) Shomo, and Brad Shomo; his daughter-in-law, Kathy M. Shomo; five grandchildren, Steven (Robertta) Shomo, James (Amy) Shomo, Christopher (Ashley) Shomo, Kalee (Dom) Shomo, and Ryan Shomo; as well as four great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
