Obituary of Jo Ann Parent

Jo Ann Gwynn Parent, age 81, of Wilmington, DE, passed away suddenly on December 21, 2024 at Wilmington Hospital. Born to the late William E. and Helen Vila Gwynn in Chester, PA, and raised in Linwood, PA, Jo Ann had been a Wilmington, DE resident since 1968. Jo Ann had a distinguished career working for the Supreme Court assisting with the litigation of oral arguments, as well as working for Leon Weiner and Assoc., prominent builders in the city of Wilmington DE. She also held positions as a legal secretary at law firms in downtown Wilmington for several years. In her spare time, she enjoyed working on Senate campaigns for the state of Delaware, as well as enjoying time with her best girlfriends, frequenting the Aston Diner, reminiscing and laughing the afternoons away. A proud graduate of Chichester High School, Class of 1961, she also attended Penn State University studying business. Jo Ann was deeply committed to her faith and was a member of the Brandywine Valley Church and Church of the Ascension in Claymont Delaware. She is survived by her five children, Jo Ann Carolyn Frame, James J. Frame, Jr., Janice L. (Terry) Hernandez, William C. Parent Jr, and Katherine F. Parent; her brother, William Gwynn Jr.; five grandchildren; Ashley Frame (predeceased 2018), Kevin Frame, Caitlyn Harkins, Megan Hernandez, Zachary Frame, and a great-grandson, Jayden. A celebration of Jo Ann's life will be occurring on February 8, 2025 at the Church of the Ascension, 3717 Philadelphia Pike, in Claymont DE, Visitation will be from 10-11am & church service from 11-12pm. The Celebration of LIfe luncheon will be at 12pm in the Parish Hall attached to the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Delaware Humane Society, where her beloved Chelsea and Mitzy were adopted and cherished.
