To the family of Mr. Ed Abbott. As I write this and the memories flood back it is very difficult to contain such feelings. Eddie and I, such as unlikely friendship but one of those that could not be denied. From music, to Nascar to movies, the R&S Club in our younger years to our pride in our children, the awe in how time was going by so quickly, how proud he was of Jake and his musical endeavors, to Rosie, and how smart and beautiful she is like the absolute love of his life, Denise, "Neesy", and how we (us knuckleheads) wound up getting so lucky with our beautiful wives. For the past 25 years or more, we had an inside joke and would continuously say "evidently" to each other ......about me getting yelled at a long long time ago, but it stuck, and he'd laugh every single time as if it were the first!
I often think back on how many times this gentle gianlt stood his ground for me, or anyone in any sort of trouble. He didn't go looking for trouble but when it found us he'd make sure whomever he was with was safe first before saying confidentally, "I'll handle this". Heres a guy the would give you the shirt off his back, the last dollar in his wallet, and everything he had in his heart to give. He gave so much his heart great tired and our Lord had to bring him home.
I am still in tears from when I first learned of his passing and suspect I will be everytime I think of him for the rest of my life. Eddie, is probably already half way through ripping a bike apart with Michael who, as with me, was also very good friends with Eddie. I know Heaven has already had to remind them to "keep it down a little" as they enjoy each others company in laughter. Eddie, I am so happy I had several opportunities to reminisce with you lately, as always one of us saying "I can't believe we got away that!"
I miss you now and will forever until we meet again my friend. Please tell Michael I send my best regards.....until we meet again Eddie...I EVIDENTLY.... love you brother!
