Obituary of John J. Hampel
John J. Hampel, age 74 of Trainer, PA passed away peacefully on May 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at home. Born to the late Charles & Margaret O'Meara Hampel Sr., he was raised in Chester, PA and has resided the past 25 years in Trainer, PA. A graduate from Chester High School, class of 1960, John later served in the United States Air Force. He was a Police Officer for the City of Chester for 26 years on the police force. After his retirement in 1992, he was then employed for DART as a supervisor for 12 years. John belonged to City of Chester FOP, Lodge #19. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Saviour Council 13710. John was a model train enthusiast. In his younger years, he coached Resurrection baseball & football as well as Chester Youth Baseball. John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Hampel (nee DiCave), 2 children, Lisa (David) Smith & John Hampel Jr., siblings, Charlene (Harry) Trader, Joseph (Sandra) Hampel, Margaret (Charles) Landis & Charles Hampel Jr., grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Hanger, Caitlyn (Joshua) Tutt, Tyler Smith & Zackery Hampel , and 3 great grandchildren, Logan & Madelyn Hanger & Harliegh Hampel, sister in laws, Sylvia Walls, Sandra Lomas & Patty DiCave. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, 9:30-11:00AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA followed by funeral services at 11:00AM. Interment Private.
