Obituary of Marion L. Groton

Marion L. Groton, age 89 of Glen Mills, PA died peacefully on June 16, 2017 at Rose Court in Maris Grove. Born in Ridley Park and raised in Woodlyn, PA, she resided for the past 3 years in Glen Mills, previously residing in Brookhaven for 63 years.  In her earlier years Marion was a secretary for American Viscose Corporation and later for Boeing retiring in 1980.  She was a member of St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was on the altar guild. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club, Sun Oil retirement group,  Wii bowling group and the Sashay Club where she enjoyed square dancing. In her spare time she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, sewing, cross stitching and playing pinochle with her friends.  Marion is preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Mary Lay,  husband, George R. Groton who died in 2009,  2 sisters, Margaret Bell and Alice Ruzzo, and is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara A. Gartland and her husband Charlie, Nancy J. Brinsfield and her husband Bill, 4 grandchildren, Matthew Gartland, Amanda Matanzo, John Brinsfield and Stacy McGarry, 3 great grandchildren, Amelia McGarry, Nolan Gartland and Ava Matanzo.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, 10:00-11:00AM  at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by funeral service at 11:00AM. Interment Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 535 Lamp Post Lane, Aston, PA 19014.
