Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. We have such happy memories of Lou over the years at swim meets, graduations, and parties of al kinds. He was such a good-natured, friendly guy, that we always enjoyed spending time with him at these gatherings. His devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren, was always evident. I wanted to reach out and express my heartfelt condolences over the loss of your loved one. I also have recently experienced a loss of my beautiful husband of 30 years. Our family was comforted by the scriptures that explain the condition of the dead. Jesus likened it to sleep. And we look forward to the promised earthly resurrection when God makes "all things new". I found the scripture in Revelation 21:4 to be very comforting: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away..." This verse felt like a warm hug to my heart; perhaps it may help you too. You may find additional comforting verses in a recent article I found helpful in managing my own feelings of sadness and loss. The article is in entitled, "When a Loved One Dies" found on JW.org.
