Obituary of Bill J. Stocki
Bill J. Stocki, age 91 of Wilmington, DE passed away at home on February 7, 2016. Born in West Deerfield, MA, he was the son of the late John F. Stocki and Tessie Dacyszyn Stocki. Bill went to school and worked on the family farm in West Deerfield, MA, with his brothers Robert E. Stocki and the late John F. Stocki II, and his sister, the late Mary Griffin. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Metz, Germany. He married Edna Saviski in 1952 and moved to Delaware the following year. He retired from I.D. Griffith, Inc., after 40 years of working hard and making a lot of lifelong friends. Bill shared his love for sports with his family and friends, often taking a car-load to Philadelphia to cheer for the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. He also loved the beach and was a permanent fixture in a rocker on the front porch in his beloved Ocean City, NJ. Bill always had a smile and a kind word for people passing by. He had a great affection for dogs, especially Bo, Quiggy, and Kebow. He was a warm, generous, and peaceful man. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Edna A. Stocki; his children Kathleen M. Stocki and her husband Jeff Bowers of Wilmington, DE, and Robert A. Stocki of Ocean City, NJ; brother Robert E. Stocki of Waltham MA; sister-in-law Estelle Anderson Stocki; and Peter G. Anderson and his wife Gloria Luchanin Anderson. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE, with visiting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m..In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Holy Child Building Fund.
