Obituary of Lydia Whelan

Lydia T. Whelan, age 96 of West Chester, PA died peacefully on May 4, 2018 at her home. Born and raised in Linwood, PA, she resided for the past 2 years at the Sunrise of Westtown, previously residing in Kennett Square and Glen Mills, PA. A homemaker, Lydia graduated from Ridley Park High School She was devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of Elam United Methodist Church where she was part of the New Beginners. Lydia volunteered at the Brandywine River Museum and enjoyed doing needlework. She is preceded in death by her parents, George L. and Frances Ebright Crosgrove, husband, James P. Whelan who died in 1991 and 4 siblings. Lydia is survived by 6 children, James (Toni) Whelan, Gary (Sandra) Whelan, Marcia (Peter) Randall, Denise (Raymond) Burroughs, Vernon Whelan and Jeffrey (Carol) Whelan also 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday 9:30-10:30AM, at Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, PA 19342, followed by a Funeral Services at 10:30AM.
