Obituary of Joseph Willett Munnis

Joseph Willett Munnis, age 93, of Glen Mills, PA passed away peacefully on May 30, 2018. Born and raised in Dorchester, MA to the late Arnold and Katherine Willett Munnis, Joe has resided in Maris Grove the past five years. He previously resided in Fox Valley, Glen Mills, PA for over 50 years. A veteran serving in the Army during WWII, Joe received his Electrical Engineering degree from Brown University. He was then employed by Westinghouse as a Sales Engineer/Power Systems for 39 years retiring in the early 1990's. After his retirement, he was called upon by Henkles & McCoy where he served as Vice President of Marketing. Joseph was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle where he served as Lector and also on the Caring and Sharing committee. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing at many clubs & courses. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at the Jersey shore. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia Anne (Houde) Munnis, two children, James Joseph Munnis and wife Mariah and Patricia Munnis Schmidt and husband Randal, a brother, John A. Munnis, grandchildren, Jamie Overbey, Sean Munnis, Kristine Datte and Kevin Joseph Schmidt and three great grandchildren, Isaiah, Claire and Ryan. A viewing will be held on Monday, 9:15-10:15AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Interment, St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Maris Grove Resident Care Fund, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342 or Willow Tree Hospice, 616 E. Cypress St., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
