Obituary of John David Stanton
John David Stanton entered into the resurrection of our Lord on Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was born in Philadelphia on November 20, 1933, to Howard D. and Vera (nee Morrison) Stanton. David was a resident of Maris Grove Retirement Community, Glen Mills, PA, and formerly of Lansdowne, PA.
David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Miriam M. (nee Huber) Stanton, son David Jr., wife Molly, son Allen, wife Debra, and daughter AnnMarie, and grandchildren James, Kimberly, Moriah, and Jeremiah.
Dave was a 1952 graduate of Lansdowne High School, and a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph’s College. Dave worked as a Quality Control Chemist for E. F. Houghton & Co., and retired from Pennwalt Corporation.
Dave led a life of service to his church, country, and community. He was an active member of St. John’s, Lansdowne, Church of the Atonement, Morton, St. Stephen’s, Clifton Heights, and St. John’s, Glen Mills, Episcopal churches. He served his country as a Navy corpsman from 1952 to 1954. And he served his community as a William Penn School District Director (1989-1997, board president in 1994), and as a member and president of the Lansdowne Union Athletic Association.
A celebration of life and resurrection will be held Saturday, November 10, at 11:00 AM, with visitation at 10:00 AM, at the Maris Grove Chapel, Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA. Interment will be at Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA.
