Obituary of Joseph F. Peronace
Joseph F. Peronace, 90, of Glen Mills PA (formerly of Springfield, PA), passed away peacefully on December 8th 2018 at Maris Grove after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine Peronace (nee Teti).
Born Giuseppe Peronace in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Rocco and Maria (Ramizi) Peronace. He was raised in South Philadelphia where he attended Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
He served stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He owned Cosmi Pharmacy on Broad Street in Philadelphia for many years where he served the local community and mentored many young pharmacy and pre-med students. Joe was also a former president of the Philadelphia Association of Retail Druggists (PARD). After selling the store Joe went to work at Mercy Catholic Medical Center as a hospital pharmacist until he retired.
He is survived by three daughters, Maria Stauffer and her husband Jim of Bel Air, MD. Donna Peronace and her husband Bob Gilmore of Westborough, MA. And Carol Waite and her husband Dave also of Westborough, MA. Joe was blessed with six loving grandchildren. Meghan, Sean, and Nick Collins of MD, and Kevin, Greg, and Ellen Waite of MA. He was predeceased by his brothers Nick and Vince.
A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Miraculous Medal Shrine at 475 E. Chelten Ave. Philadelphia, PA.
