Obituary of John H. Lathbury
John H. Lathbury, age 93, of Garnet Valley, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Analine Village, DE, and raised in Linwood, PA, he resided for the past 56 years in Garnet Valley. He was a son of the late George H. and Anna M. Roddy Lathbury. John worked for Sun Oil Company for 37 years prior to retiring in 1983. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy. John was a Past Worshipful Master of Concord F.&A.M. Lodge 625 and was a member of the American Legion Post #951, Boothwyn, PA. During his son's younger years, he served as Scout Master for the Siloam Church Boy Scout troop. John was a member of Siloam Methodist Church for over 50 years and had been attending Mt. Hope Methodist Church. He enjoyed downhill skiing, jogging, canoeing, camping, outdoor activties and his time sailing and the beach. John is surivied by his wife of 70 years, Viola K. Lewis Lathbury; two sons, John (Deborah) Lathbury of Brookhaven, PA and Thomas A (Linda) Lathbury of Thornton, PA; a daughter, Barbara J. (Nicholas) D'Antonio of Concordville, PA; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 10-11 am at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Siloam Cemetery, Garnet Valley, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Hope UMC Food Pantry, 4020 Concord Rd, Aston, PA 19014.
