Edward J. Gallagher III (Girard College Class of 1999) posted a condolence

To the Family of the Legendary Buddy Murray. Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your patriarch, friend, and entertainer. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Buddy several years ago during a Girard College golf outing. I spent the morning listening to his stories, and laughing at the way him and his classmate could still bust each other's stones after all these years. It was arguably one of the most treasured interactions I've ever had with a member of our alumni. Buddy was kind enough to share these stories with me, incredibly charismatic and heartfelt. A few years ago I had the chance to see Buddy entered into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Girard. I mentioned his legendary status, and his generation as true Girardians. My only regret is that I did not have more interactions with Buddy over these last several years. May he rest in peace. Hail Girard.

Murray Family: So sorry to hear this news. I worked with Buddy for years at Conrail. He was a really good guy; and a true IRISHMAN . He loved all things Irish. I remember when he was emcee when the Wolfe Tones played at the Alpine Inn back in the day. An old IrIsh saying goes..'death brings sorrow that nothing can heal; LOVE brings memories that no one can steal'. Buddy was LOVED by many.

I am so sad to hear of Buddy's passing. He was a Girard College brother, and I miss seeing him at our semi-annual Luncheons in New Jersey. I am so glad I had the chance to video tape him singing "That's the Story in Philadelphia" at one of the luncheons. He loved to entertain us. He was one of a kind, and so proud to be a Girardian. We will all miss him dearly.
