Obituary of Doris M. Jones

Doris Marion Potts Jones, 95, of Glen Mills, PA, passed peacefully from the earth on May 12, 2016. Doris was born on March 3, 1921, in Buffalo, NY, to Bertha Johnson Potts and Walter Lawrence Potts. She was a 1938 graduate of West High School in Columbus, OH, and attended The Ohio State University. On November 22, 1941, she married Edward Charles Jones, Jr., her devoted husband of 75 years. She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her two children. Her husband was employed by the DuPont Co. The family resided in Old Hickory, TN, from 1945 to 1956 and Martinsville, VA, from 1956 to 1957, followed by 10 years on Signal Mountain, TN. In 1966, Doris and her husband moved to Kinston, NC, where they resided until 1969, when they moved to Chadds Ford, PA. In 2009, they moved to Maris Grove, Glen Mills, PA. Over the years, Doris was active in bridge and garden clubs, served as a Girl Scout leader, and was an enthusiastic golfer. In her senior years, she began playing duplicate bridge and achieved the level of Gold Life Master. Doris is survived by her husband, Edward C. Jones, Jr., of Maris Grove, daughter Linda Lee Jones of Raleigh, NC, and son David Edward Jones of Wilmington, DE. She will be missed greatly by her family and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, at 1:00PM at Maris Grove Chapel, Glen Mills, PA. Interment private at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
