Obituary of Vernon L. Lawton

Vernon Lee Lawton, 62, died peacefully on May 7, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born May 20, 1961 in Wilmington, Delaware, he was a graduate of Brandywine High School and Old Dominion University. For many years, he worked at Brandywine Raceway and then enjoyed a 35-year career with the State of Delaware as an engineer. He was known for his sense of humor, loved cooking, music, and cars, and more than anything, he loved his family and found great joy in his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry “Sonny” Lawton and Elsie Clayton Lawton, and his brother, Lewis Lawton. He is survived by his sons, Matthew (Anna Tindall) and Andrew (Shiva Shahriari), his granddaughters, Meiling, Tao, and Veya, and other extended family members. Funeral services will be private.
