Obituary of Vito J. Jacono Sr.

Vito J. Jacono, Sr., age 88, of Glen Mills, PA passed away on October 21, 2024 at Chester County Hospital. Born to Joseph A. and Ida (nee Mancini) Jacono in Chester, PA. He has resided in the Maris Grove  community for the past 5 years, previously residing in Fox Hill Farms for over 20 years. Prior to that, he resided in Concordville, PA with his beloved wife, Lois. Vito graduated from Chichester High School, Class of 1954, where he served as class president. He previously attended St. James High School. Vito was an entrepreneur and a business owner of Bear Tubular Steel Inc and Bear Tubular Maine LLC. Vito was also a professional musician known for his skilled guitar playing and melodious voice. Along with his brother Jim, they were the founding members of Jimmy J and the J’s. Vito loved live performances and appreciated all genres of music from Motown to classical to gospel to Broadway in addition to supporting local theater.


Devoted to his Catholic faith and St. Padre Pio, Vito was a Parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Chester Heights PA and formerly a Parishioner of Immaculate Conception of Lourdes in Marcus Hook, PA. Vito was well known in his community as he was active throughout his years and a member of the National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors, Concord Township Senior Citizens and the Sons of Italy, Dante Alighieri Lodge. An avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, Vito was a proud season ticket holder for 47 years. He also enjoyed watching the Phillies each summer. His catchphrase to many was “How about those Phillies!”


A true gentleman through and through, Vito’s most important role was found in his love and devotion to his family. He never missed a school sporting event, school play or concert. Vito is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lois J. (nee Montella) Jacono, sons, Joseph (Kathleen) Jacono, Louis (Evelyn) Jacono and Vito (Melissa) Jacono, Jr., 7 grandchildren, Mary Kaye (David) Anthony, Andrea (Robert) Williamson, Joseph (Laura) Jacono Jr., Lauren (Brent) Talley, Vito Jacono III, Tyler Jacono, and Brenton (Sara) Jacono, 11 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ryan, James, Reynolds, Olivia, Anthony, Robert, Henry, Jordan, Katherine, and Giovanni, and a brother, Jim (Marlene) Jacono.


A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29 from 6:00-8:00pm at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA. An additional visitation will take place at St. Thomas the Apostle, 430 Valleybrook Rd, Glen Mills, PA on Wednesday, October 30 from 9:30-10:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment, Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
